Uncapturable

Sometimes a baby(‘s expression) can remind you of some of the most succinctly stated commands in the Bible.

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess 5:16-18)

Smile!

24

Approximately 2 weeks ago, two days early, my friends decided to pleasantly surprise me for my 24th birthday with a lot of people, candles, tealights, awesome homemade food, and love stuffed into one cozy apartment. Felt really blessed. :)

Running with joy

Babysat Nathan for a little bit today with Liz and Ryan. For some reason, we click quite well, and it’s really easy for me to play, giggle and laugh with him. He’s so adorable and growing up so fast.

I love watching him run somewhere. He tends to crack a huge smile and sometimes even lets out a loud husky giggle as he starts running full-speed towards someone or something. It makes me wonder, How many of us exude this kind of joy as we’re running towards God our Father?

River, roads, cities, fields, and followers

I’m known to have minimal to no patience for games that require more time and thought (i.e. Settlers of Catan). I do like Carcassonne though: it doesn’t require too much pondering (for the most part), is colorful, and has cute pieces. It also brings back memories of playing (SimCity) or watching my brother play computer games (Age of Empires).

It’s a bit ironic that I play more board games than computer games these days compared to my childhood days. I like it that way: being able to enjoy people’s actual presence while playing a game.

Actually took a pic because of the cluster of monasteries. Quite the holy area there, haha.
Also, apparently the followers are colloqially called “meeples”. The word sounds quite … cute. :P

Nerd

He commented on how the orange slices looked so cute and then promptly started rattling off how they looked like orbitals from his test the other day (or was it today).

I love my friends. God definitely made each of us very unique and quirky.

Spread the joy

I feel like such a kid at work sometimes because of my random bursts of hyperness/excitement: My hand still instinctively shoots up when I want to get someone’s attention, and I sometimes unabashedly greet people with an excited hands-in-the-air, “Hi! I’ve been looking for you! / Haven’t seen you in ages!” (Ironically, I tend to do this to older folks like my boss.) One might even catch me skipping through the halls if I’ve just had a particularly good/productive conversation. (I distinctly remember doing so today as I rounded a corner before remembering that I was in the workplace. Haha.)

I sometimes wish I could express more the silly, child-like joy that I have in even the smallest/simplest of things. It helps alleviate the stresses of a work day and definitely lightens the mood. At the least, I hope it brings a smile of amusement to the other’s face when that joy comes out, albeit accidentally.

Anyone can do with a cheerful smile at work, right?

“Be joyful always.” (1 Thess 5:16, NIV 1984)

Perseverance

I’m not entirely sure how people kill desert plants (i.e. cacti), but at least this one (it’s actually a desert rose) is still alive despite occasional neglect. Perseverance is an important trait even among plants. :P

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Gal 6:9-10, NIV 1984)

Random: Been listening to classical/soundtrack music lately. It makes me happy. Ahh, I love music. :)
